Paula Iancic studied singing at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy in Cluj/Romania. She gained her first stage experience at various Romanian opera houses in roles such as Lauretta (GIANNI SCHICCHI), Adele (DIE FLEDERMAUS), Micaëla (CARMEN), Musetta and Mimi (LA BOHÈME).
She won various prizes and awards including the special prize at the Alexandru Fărcaş International Voice Competition in Arad (2015), 1st prize at the Grand Prix of L’Assoluta Virginia Zeani in 2019 and 2nd prize at the Concorso Lirico Internazionale di Portofino 2022.
As a member of the opera studio of the Bavarian State Opera, Paula Iancic played roles such as Oscar (UN BALLO IN MASCHERA), Barbarina (LE NOZZE DI FIGARO), Papagena (THE MAGIC FLUTE), Gretel (HANSEL AND GRETEL), Suor Dolcina (SUOR ANGELICA), Giannetta (L’ELISIR D’AMORE), Zaida (IL TURCO IN ITALIA), Maria (DER DIKTATOR), First Page and Flower Girl (PARSIFAL), Ginevra Scotti (DIE GEZEICHNETEN) in the seasons spanning 2016 to 2018.
In 2019 she gave her house debut at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Philotis in a new premiere of John Ford’s “ITS PITY SHE’S A WHORE”. Her upcoming engagements at Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Pamina (DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE), Frasquita (CARMEN) and Julia in a new production of Blacher´s ROMEO UND JULIA had to be cancelled due to Corona.
Her recent appearances and debuts include Adriana Lecouvreur (debut), Leonora-debut (IL TROVATORE) and Desdemona-debut (OTELLO), Liu (TURANDOT), Mimi (LA BOHÈME), Violetta (LA TRAVIATA) at Opera Nationala Romana Timisoara, her house-debut at National Opera in Bucarest as Mimi in Puccini´s LA BOHÈME, Micaela (CARMEN), Mimi (LA BOHÈME) and Violetta (LA TRAVIATA) at Opera Nationala Romana Iasi, Lauretta (GIANNI SCHICCHI) and Violetta (LA TRAVIATA) at Opera Nationala Romana Cluj-Napoca as well as Pamina (THE MAGIC FLUTE) and Violetta (LA TRAVIATA) at Teatr Wielki in Poznan.
She has appeared as a concert soloist with many orchestras including the State Radio Orchestra of Bucharest, the Arad State Philharmonic and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Cluj.
