In the 2026/27 season, Samantha Gaul expands her repertoire at Oper Leipzig with Susanna in a new production of Mozart’s LE NOZZE DI FIGARO and several roles in Puccini’s IL TRITTICO. In the latter, she appears as Lauretta, Suor Genovieffa and Amante. She also returns to the Leipzig stage as Musetta in LA BOHÈME, Pamina in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Frasquita in CARMEN, Despina in COSÌ FAN TUTTE and Zerlina in DON GIOVANNI.

She also continues to appear internationally this season. With the Budapest Festival Orchestra, she sings Pamina in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE in Budapest, Vicenza and Baden-Baden. Concert engagements include Poulenc’s GLORIA at the Gewandhaus Leipzig and Mozart’s GREAT MASS IN C MINOR, K. 427 at the Bachfest Leipzig in the Thomaskirche.

Samantha Gaul has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Leipzig since the 2022/23 season. Her most recent roles there include Despina in a new production of COSÌ FAN TUTTE, Nannetta in a new production of FALSTAFF, Pamina, Musetta, Gretel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Woglinde in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, Frasquita and L’Inconnue in the world premiere of COMING UP FOR AIR. Further roles in her Leipzig repertoire include Oriane in AMADIS DE GAULE, the Woodbird in SIEGFRIED, Ännchen in DER FREISCHÜTZ, Madama Cortese in IL VIAGGIO A REIMS and Sophie in DER ROSENKAVALIER.

Guest engagements have taken Samantha Gaul to Komische Oper Berlin, where she appeared as Gretel and Nannetta, to the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing as Adele in DIE FLEDERMAUS, as well as to Theater Basel, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Bühnen Bern, Oper Frankfurt, Opéra National de Montpellier and Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar. At Staatstheater Augsburg, her roles have included Sophie Scholl in DIE WEISSE ROSE, Serpetta in LA FINTA GIARDINIERA, Adina in L’ELISIR D’AMORE and the title role in SIMPLICIUS SIMPLICISSIMUS.

She has developed an ongoing artistic collaboration with the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Iván Fischer. She previously appeared with the orchestra as Najade in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in Budapest and at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. She made her debut at the Philharmonie Luxembourg in Mahler’s Fourth Symphony under Carlo Rizzari.

Samantha Gaul is also active in concert and recital repertoire. Her appearances have included the Schwetzingen SWR Festival, Rheingau Musik Festival, Weilburger Schlosskonzerte and Schubertiade Hohenems, where she gave the world premiere of Kit Armstrong’s Ulla-Hahn-Lieder with the composer at the piano. Further recent concert engagements include the New Year’s concert with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana in Palermo and Massenet’s LA VIERGE with the Staatskapelle Halle.

From 2013 to 2022, Samantha Gaul was a member of the ensemble at Theater Freiburg, where her principal roles included Susanna in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Nannetta in FALSTAFF, Adele in DIE FLEDERMAUS, Zerlina in DON GIOVANNI, Musetta in LA BOHÈME and Olympia in LES CONTES D’HOFFMANN. Particular attention was drawn to her performances in the title roles of Mark-Anthony Turnage’s CORALINE in its German premiere and Janáček’s THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN, the latter of which she also recorded for NAXOS with the SWR.

In 2018, Samantha Gaul was nominated by Opernwelt magazine as “Young Artist of the Year”. She studied voice at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt.
