Solen Mainguené

The French soprano Solen Mainguené, a native of Orange in southern France, has been a member of the ensemble of Oper Leipzig since the 2022/2023 season.
Her current repertoire includes roles such as Mimì (LA BOHÈME), Nedda (PAGLIACCI), Tatiana (EUGENE ONEGIN), Desdemona (OTELLO), Alice Ford (FALSTAFF), Lisa (THE QUEEN OF SPADES), Gutrune (GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG), the Feldmarschallin (DER ROSENKAVALIER), as well as the title role in ARABELLA.
She appears regularly as a guest at major opera houses in Germany and abroad. In Germany she has performed, among others, at the Staatsoper Hannover, Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Theater Freiburg, Wuppertaler Bühnen, and the theatres of Lübeck, Dessau, Aachen, and Halle.
International engagements have taken her to the Teatro Real Madrid, Malmö Opera, Prague State Opera, Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville, and the Danish National Opera. She has worked with conductors including Simone Young, Axel Kober, Ivan Repušic, Michel Plasson, Lawrence Foster, Martin Rajna, Nick Carter, and Alexander Soddy.
She has received important artistic guidance in masterclasses with Montserrat Caballé, Anna Tomowa-Sintow, Cheryl Studer, Marilyn Horne, and Barbara Bonney.
Mainguené is the First Prize winner of the International Singing Competition Clermont-Ferrand, where she also received the Prize for Best Interpretation of the Italian Repertoire. She has been a finalist in several international competitions and has been nominated multiple times by the magazine Opernwelt as “Singer of the Year” and “Young Artist of the Year.”
In addition to her stage career, she is active as a mentor for young singers at the Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Conservatory in Leipzig.
She studied first at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore before continuing in the opera class at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where she graduated with highest distinction. She subsequently joined the International Opera Studio and later the ensemble of the Hamburg State Opera, an experience that proved formative for her artistic development.
