Elisabeth Dopheide

Vita

German soprano Elisabeth Dopheide combines a versatile operatic repertoire with a particular affinity for Wagner and for music of the 20th and 21st centuries. In recent years, her work has encompassed both lyrical and more dramatic roles from the established repertoire as well as contemporary opera and world premieres.

From 2023 to 2026, she was a member of the ensemble at Theater Chemnitz, where her roles included the title role in Charpentier’s LOUISE, the Mother in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Rosalinde in DIE FLEDERMAUS, Venus in ORPHEUS IN DER UNTERWELT, Indolenda in DIE DREI WÜNSCHE and the President in DER TENOR DER HERZOGIN. During her final season with the company, she also appeared as Anne Frank in a concert performance of DAS TAGEBUCH DER ANNE FRANK, as Nedda in PAGLIACCI and as Ruth Fischer in the world premiere of Ludger Vollmer’s RUMMELPLATZ.

Recent guest engagements have included Freia in a new production of Wagner’s DAS RHEINGOLD at Stadttheater Klagenfurt and Gerhilde in DIE WALKÜRE at Bühnen Bern. Elisabeth Dopheide made her professional operatic debut in 2022 at the Semperoper Dresden as Sophie Scholl in Udo Zimmermann’s WEISSE ROSE.

She is equally at home on the concert and oratorio stage. Her repertoire includes Orff’s CARMINA BURANA, Mendelssohn’s ELIJAH and Palmeri’s MISA TANGO, while recordings for Deutschlandfunk and NDR reflect her work as a concert soloist.

Elisabeth Dopheide studied at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Prof. Gudrun Pelker and in the Lied class of Prof. Jan Philip Schulze. She received further artistic guidance in masterclasses with singers including Dagmar Schellenberger, Stefan Vinke and Johannes Martin Kränzle.

In 2018, she was awarded Second Prize in the junior category of the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin. She has also received scholarships from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, the Walter and Charlotte Hamel Foundation, the Richard Wagner Association and the Ernst von Siemens Foundation.
