Margaux de Valensart

Vita

The Belgian soprano Margaux de Valensart has been a member of the ensemble at Oper Wuppertal since January 2024, where she has already appeared in leading roles such as Alcina (Alcina), Frau Fluth (The Merry Wives of Windsor), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Marguerite (Faust), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Daisy (The Lodger).

 

Recent guest engagements include Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) at the Semperoper Dresden, Lax F in the world premiere of Philip Glass’ Circus Days and Nights at Malmö Opera, Coryphée and Bohèmienne (Les Huguenots) at La Monnaie in Brussels, Contessa di Ceprano (Rigoletto) at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie, and Bubikopf in Ullmann’s Der Kaiser von Atlantis at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg.

 

She was awarded the Talent Prize of the 2020 Reumert Awards for her interpretations of Frasquita (Carmen) and Ilya (Idomeneo). Further recognition includes being a prize-winner at La Monnaie/De Munt in Brussels and a finalist at the 38th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Villach, Austria.

 

Margaux de Valensart studied at the Institut de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namur, graduating in 2016, before joining the Opera Academy in Copenhagen, where she worked with Helene Gjerris from 2016 to 2019. During this time and subsequently as a member of the ensemble at the Royal Danish Theatre, she appeared in roles such as Musetta (La Bohème), Contessa di Ceprano (Rigoletto), a Flower Maiden (Parsifal), Frasquita (Carmen) and Ilya (Idomeneo).
