In the upcoming season 2025\/26 Annika followed the invitation and will join the new ensemble at Hamburg State Opera where Tobias Kratzer will be the new intendant. Her roles in her first season there will include Komponist in ARIADNE AUF NAXOS, Judith in Bartok\u2019s BLUEBEARDS CASTLE, Brang\u00e4ne, Pauline in PIQUE DAME and others. She will return to Deutsche Oper Berlin for another RING CYCLE as Fricka and Waltraute as well as the Waldtaube in Sch\u00f6nberg\u2019s GURRE LIEDER at the Berlin Philharmonie under the baton of Sir Donald Runnicles.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In august 2025, Annika together with the Dresden Philharmonie will perform Richard Wagner\u2019s WESENDONCK songs at the Ravello festival. With the Deutsche-Sinfonie-Orchester she will perform Gustav Mahler\u2019s KINDERTOTENLIEDER in the Berlin Philharmonie. Both concerts will be led by Kent Nagano. More concert works this season will include excerpts from Mahler\u2019s WUNDERHORN songs and new compositions by Ella Milch-Sheriff in Hamburg\u2019s Elbphilharmonie as well as songs by Dora <\/em>Peja\u010devi\u0107 in Zagreb under Ivan Repu\u0161i\u0107 and the Staatskapelle Weimar. A CD recording of this program will be published soon.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In the 2024\/25 season, Annika Schlicht made her successful U.S. Debut, starting with Gustav Mahler\u2019s\u00a0DAS<\/em> LIED<\/em> VON<\/em> DER<\/em> ERDE<\/em> and a song recital at the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival. This was followed by a performance of Mahler\u2019s\u00a0DES KNABEN WUNDERHORN<\/em>\u00a0with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at the Edinburgh Festival and then later her debut at San Francisco Opera as\u00a0Brang\u00e4ne<\/em>\u00a0in a new production of TRISTAN UND ISOLDE and the Alto Soloist in Beethoven\u2019s IX. Symphony.<\/p>\n

In the concert realm, she interpreted Szymanowski\u2019s\u00a0STABAT MATER<\/em> with the Munich Radio Orchestra and performed Mahler\u2019s 2nd Symphony with the Staatskapelle Weimar. Both concerts were led under the baton of Ivan Repu\u0161i\u0107.<\/p>\n

In the summer of 2023, Annika Schlicht returned to the SALZBURG FESTIVAL with Klangforum Wien for two concerts.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Following this, the mezzo-soprano was invited by Kent Nagano to record the role of\u00a0Fricka<\/em>\u00a0in Richard Wagner\u2019s DAS RHEINGOLD with Concerto K\u00f6ln, in a historically informed performance practice. In August 2023, she undertook a tour with concerts in Cologne, Lucerne, and Ravello.<\/p>\n

Also, in 2023 she made a successful debut as\u00a0Brang\u00e4ne<\/em>\u00a0in a new production of TRISTAN UND ISOLDE at the Staatstheater Cottbus and debuted in the 2023\/24 season as Frugola<\/em>,\u00a0<\/em>Zita<\/em>, <\/em>and\u00a0<\/em>Principessa<\/em>\u00a0in a new production of IL TRITTICO at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Additional roles at her main house included\u00a0Fricka<\/em>\u00a0in DAS RHEINGOLD and DIE WALK\u00dcRE,\u00a0Waltraute<\/em>\u00a0in G\u00d6TTERD\u00c4MMERUNG, and the alto and mezzo-soprano solo in a staged MATTH\u00c4USPASSION and the VERDI REQUIEM, the latter in collaboration with the Staatsballett Berlin.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Born in Stuttgart, Annika Schlicht studied at the \u201eHochschule f\u00fcr Musik Hanns Eisler\u201c Berlin with professor Renate Faltin.<\/p>\n

In 2015\/16, she joined the Deutsche Oper Berlin as a member of the ensemble.<\/p>\n

In past seasons, she appeared as Fricka in RHEINGOLD and WALK\u00dcRE as well as Waltraute in G\u00d6TTERD\u00c4MMERUNG in a new RING CYCLE directed by Stefan Herheim. This RING CYCLE was released on DVD by NAXOS.<\/p>\n

As Fricka in RHEINGOLD, Annika returned to the Bregenz Festival and made her house debut with WALK\u00dcRE at Stuttgart State Opera.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Annika Schlicht has already performed numerous roles such as Fenena\/NABUCCO, Adriano\/RIENZI, Mrs Quickly\/FALSTAFF, Prince Orlovsky\/DIE FLEDERMAUS, Magdalene MEISTERSINGER OF NUREMBERG, Hansel\/HANSEL AND GRETEL, Olga\/EUGENE ONEGIN, Dorabella\/COSI FAN TUTTE, Marchesa Melibea\/VIAGGIO A REIMS, Maddalena\/RIGOLETTO, Auntie \/PETER GRIMES,<\/em>\u00a0Siegrune\/WALK\u00dcRE as well as Flosshilde in DAS RHEINGOLD and G\u00d6TTERD\u00c4MMERUNG.<\/p>\n

Due to an acclaimed Auntie\/PETER GRIMES at the Bergen International Festival in 2017, she was reinvited to make her debut as Sesto in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO at the Bergen National Opera in 2020.<\/p>\n

Most recent guest engagements have taken her to the Royal Opera Houses of London and Muscat, Frankfurt Opera, the Hamburg State Opera and Elbphilharmonie, the Bavarian State Opera, the Op\u00e8ra de Paris, the Semperoper Dresden, the Berlin State Opera and the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf.<\/p>\n

While still a student, Annika Schlicht was engaged on a scholarship from the Liz Mohn Foundation for Culture and Music at the International Opera Studio of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin and debuted in the seasons 2013\/14 and 2014\/15 in various smaller and medium roles.<\/p>\n

In 2014, Annika Schlicht joined the Salzburg Festivals Young Singers Project and made her Festival Debut as Angelina in a children’s version of Rossini’s LA CENERENTOLA and in the world premiere of Marc-Andr\u00e9 Dalbavie\u2019s CHARLOTTE SALOMON.<\/p>\n

Annika Schlicht\u2019s extensive operatic work is supplemented regularly by her appearances in concerts and as a Lieder singer. Gustav Mahler\u2019s DAS LIED VON DER ERDE in Klagenfurt and Pordenone and his III. Symphony in Dresden, Anton\u00edn\u00a0Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s Stabat Mater in Poland, Giuseppe Verdi\u2018s MESSA DA REQUIEM in Essen, Ludwig van Beethoven\u2018s IX. SYMPHONIE in Brussels Berlin and Antwerp, Johannes Brahms\u2018 ALT-RHAPSODIE, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi\u2019s STABAT MATER, Johann Sebastian Bach\u2019s CHRISTMAS ORATORIO, Richard Wagner\u2019s WESENDONCK LIEDER, Antonio Vivaldi\u2019s GLORIA, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart\u2019s REQUIEM in Riga, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy\u2019s SAINT PAUL and ELIJAH, Lili Boulanger\u2019s AU FOND DE L\u2019AB\u00ceME in Munich as well as Igor Kuljeri\u0107\u2018s GLAGOLITIC REQUIEM in Zagreb are just a few highlights from her repertoire to date.<\/p>\n

She has worked with such celebrated conductors as Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Sir Donald Runnicles, Ivan Repu\u0161i\u0107, John Fiore, Alondra de la Parra, Enrique Mazzola, Asher Fisch, Edward Gardner, St\u00e9phane Den\u00e8ve , Kent Nagano, Alexander Soddy, Ulf Schirmer, Axel Kober, Ingo Metzmacher, Christopher Moulds, Stefan Soltesz, Sebastian Weigle and directors Harry Kupfer, Hans Neuenfels, Stefan Herheim, Luc Bondy, Claus Guth, Jossi Wieler, Dmitri Tcherniakov and Johannes Erath and sung with the Staatskapelle Berlin, Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, with the Wiener Symphoniker, the Brussels Philharmonic, the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Dresden Philarmonic, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, the Bremen Philharmonic and the Ensemble Modern.<\/p>\n

She sang Wagner’s WESENDONCK LIEDER with the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin under the baton of Sir Donald Runnicles\u00a0at the Ravello Festival in the summer of 2018.<\/p>\n

To mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, Annika Schlicht was engaged by the UNESCO World Orchestra for Peace as a soloist in Beethoven\u2019s Ninth Symphony.<\/p>\n
